Point A Piece Sees Villa Remain Unbeaten!

Portgordon Victoria- 0 .Vs. 0 -Bishopmill Villa

Premier League Game 6 :: Gordon Park :: Tuesday 19/05/09 :: K.O.- 7:15pm

In a game which gave you very little chance to breathe, never mind anything else, Bishopmill got a well earned point after a goal-less draw at Gordon Park. The visitors got off to the better start, pinning the league leaders back into their own half. The Vics settled into the game a bit more as the half went on and Richard Collie had a couple of saves to make with his feet, but nothing that really troubled the goalkeeper.

Alex McGregor saw a shot beat goalkeeper Jamie Barclay only to be cleared off the line as Bishopmill looked for a goal before the break. The first half was a midfield battle in all honestly, as both teams cancelled each other out extremely well. But neither side could break the other's sturdy back line as the half ended goal-less.

Half Time Score was 0-0.

The 2nd half saw Portgordon come onto Villa a lot more, as the table toppers looked to continue their un-blemished start to the season. Neither keeper really had much to do in the whole game, Villa's Collie perhaps being tested slightly more than his Vics counterpart. The game never slowed down once, being pinged from end to end at a hundred miles an hour - a fine example of Moray Welfare football!

Chance of the match fell to Neil Mair for the home side with about 15 mins to go. Portgordon managed to break through the Villa defence for one of the very few times in the match, and Mair was through on goal, but Ricca Collie spread himself well to save with his legs.

At the other end, Bishopmill had a chance to win it themselves, after some impressive one touch football, Alex McGregor played through Craig Grant who fired straight at Barclay to force a corner. The Elgin men piled on the pressure in the last few minutes, forcing corner after corner but nothing came of them and the referee blew the whistle on one of the most frantic games witnessed in a long time!

A point was definitley the right result in this one, as both teams matched each other in every department, with both defences playing extremely well.

Bishopmill Man of the Match was Mark Sim.

Final Score was Portgordon Victoria- 0 .Vs. 0 - Bishopmill Villa
